This guide shows you how to see the individual services behind each sales rep's commission totals on the Commission Report, on screen or as a CSV download. Use it when you need to check, explain, or pay out a rep's commission line by line.
For how commissions are set up, see Commission & Bonus Setup. For an overview of the Commission and Bonus reports, see Commission & Bonus Reports.
Before you start
- Your Primary and Secondary commission percentages are set under Settings > Sales Settings > Commissions (see Commission & Bonus Setup). If one is missing, the report shows a warning at the top and services of that type show no commission.
- Each service you pay commission on has its commission type (Primary or Secondary) selected in the service's settings.
- The services were sold on an estimate with a Sales Rep selected.
The filters
| Filter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sales Reps | Pick one or more reps. Leave it empty to include every rep. |
| View | Summary by sales rep (one row per rep) or Detail by service (one row per service). |
| Job Completed Start Date / End Date | Required. When the service was completed. Starts as January 1 of this year through today. |
| Estimate Start Date / End Date | Optional. Limits the report to services sold on estimates dated in this range. |
View the services behind the totals
- Go to Reports > Sales > Commission Report. The report opens with the summary for this year to date.
- Optional: choose one or more reps under Sales Reps.
- Under View, choose Detail by service.
- Adjust the Job Completed dates, and the Estimate dates if you need them.
- Click Search (or press Enter in a date field).
You'll see one row per commissionable service, sorted by sales rep and then by completion date, with a TOTALS row at the bottom.
What each column means
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Sales Rep Name | The sales rep on the estimate. |
| Service Completed Date | The day the service was completed. |
| Customer / Property Address | Who the service was for and where. |
| Program / Service / Service Type | What was performed. |
| Commission Type | Primary or Secondary, from the service's settings. |
| Service Amount | The amount for that completed service. |
| Primary Commission / Secondary Commission | Service Amount × your Primary or Secondary commission %. |
| Total Commission | Primary + Secondary commission for that service. |
| Estimate ID / Estimate Date / Estimate Status | The estimate the commission comes from. |
Download it as a CSV
Set the filters the same way and click CSV Download. The CSV matches whichever View is selected and has the same rows as the screen:
- Summary by sales rep downloads commission_report_<date>.csv, including how many Primary and Secondary services each rep had.
- Detail by service downloads commission_report_detail_<date>.csv.
Amounts in the CSV are plain numbers (no $ or commas), so they add up directly in a spreadsheet.
Verify it worked
For any rep, the detail's TOTALS row matches that rep's row in the Summary by sales rep view:
- Service Amount total = Total Sales Produced
- Primary Commission total = Total Primary Commissions
- Secondary Commission total = Total Secondary Commission
- Total Commission total = Total Commissions
Good to know
- Only commissionable services are listed. A service with no commission type earns no commission, so it doesn't appear in the detail or count toward any total.
- Services need an estimate with a sales rep. Completed services whose estimate has no sales rep aren't credited to anyone, so they don't appear.
- Commission follows the rep on the estimate. If you change the sales rep on an estimate, its services move to the new rep, and the Sales Reps filter shows them under the new rep too.
- Commission is rounded per service. Each service's commission is rounded to the cent and then added up, so the totals always match the detail exactly.
- Current commission %. The report applies the Primary and Secondary percentages currently in your settings to every service in the date range.
Common issues
- "Job completed dates are required." Both Job Completed dates must be filled in.
- "The start date must be on or before the end date." The start date is after the end date; swap them.
- A service I expected is missing: check that the service has a commission type, that the estimate has a sales rep, and that both the completion date and (if you set them) the estimate dates fall inside your ranges.
- An older CSV download came back empty or didn't match the screen: download it again. The CSV now uses exactly the same filters as the on-screen report.
- The page is slow for a large date range: narrow the Job Completed dates.
