Certain chemicals, such as fungicides or insecticides, may be used both as localized spot treatments and as full-coverage, blanket applications depending on the use case. Because chemical estimation calculations differ between blanket applications and spot treatments, understanding how the system calculates usage will help you manage these products accurately.
System Calculation Behavior
- Automated Logic: The system always calculates estimated usage based on the total square footage of the job site.
- Spot Treatment Estimates: Because localized application areas vary unpredictably, the system cannot automatically estimate a partial spot-treatment amount. It defaults to the full area calculation except at service completion where it will automatically calculate at '0' to let the technician enter the actual amount of mixture applied.
- Technician Adjustments: Technicians are expected to manually overwrite and adjust the actual amount applied in their mobile interface/service report upon completing the service.
Managing Dual-Use Chemicals
Option 1: Manual Technician Adjustment
Keep the chemical set up as a single product in your system inventory.
- Spot Treatment Workflow: When applied as a spot treatment, the technician selects the product (e.g., via the chemical drop-down for items outside standard service parameters) and manually updates the actual quantity used to reflect the spot-treated amount.
- Tank Mix Workflow: When used as a blanket application, the technician selects the product, and the system's estimated usage, based on total square footage, should match the actual full application.
Option 2: Creating Separate Products
If your team requires distinct default application rates or separate inventory tracking for spot treatments versus tank mixes, you can create two separate product entries in the system:
- [Product Name] – Spot Treatment: Configured with spot-treatment application parameters.
- [Product Name] – Broadcast: Configured with tank-mix application rates and parameters.
Technicians then select the specific product entry matching how the chemical was applied during that service.
